Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances
Overview
This course provides the skills and knowledge to assist managers, supervisors, employees and health and safety representatives in understanding their legislative obligation in relation to the control of dangerous goods in the workplace.
Topics covered include:
The legislative framework, identification of labels and MSDS’s, Assessment of dangerous goods factors, storage of dangerous goods, control options, health surveillance, training, records and transportation requirements.
Who should attend?
All line managers and supervisors who direct and supervise employees working with chemicals in the workplace and employees handling or exposed to dangerous goods in the working environment.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

Understand their legislative roles and responsibilities in relation to dangerous goods

Identify and assess dangerous goods

Understand dangerous goods manifests and assessment factors

Understand the legislative requirements for segregation and separation of dangerous goods

Implement control measures to reduce potential exposure to dangerous goods

Design a control (action plan) program to safely maintain the dangerous good in the workplace

No formal assessments will be undertaken for this course. Students attending this course will be given a Statement of Attendance.
