Overview

BSBOHS403B. This unit specifies the outcomes required to identify hazards and assess OHS risks in the workplace. The unit introduced basic incident analysis as an important skill underlying incident investigation. This unit is a companion to BSBOHS404A.

BSBOHS404B. This unit of competency addresses knowledge, processes and techniques necessary to contribute to the implementation of OHS risk controls. It is about consideration of the various interactions between people and their activities, equipment, environment and work systems when controlling OHS risks in workplaces. 

Who should attend?

The course should assist in the development of appropriate attitudes to enable managers and supervisors to effectively manage health and safety in their areas of responsibility. 

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Investigate incidents for prevention

  • Access existing sources of information and data to identify hazards

  • Conduct hazard identification and assess risk

  • Develop options for risk control

  • Contribute to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness of controls.

Award

Upon successful completion of this course together with post course assignments, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the Certificate IV in OHS.
