This course provides Supervisors/Frontline Managers with an understanding of OHS principles and an understanding of techniques for implementation of OHS practices.

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

• Explain the responsibilities of employers and employees under relevant OH&S legislation

• Explain methods of effectively communicating safety to employees

• Identify causes of workplace incidents

• Utilise procedures for identifying, recording and analysing incidents

• Implement effective procedures for hazard identification and risk assessment

• List the steps in conducting an incident investigation

• List and describe the key principles of effective OH&S risk management

• Conduct a task analysis and write standard work procedures

• Create an action plan for implementation of OH&S objectives

Outline

Effective training of supervisory personnel has a major impact on the ability of management to implement and maintain appropriate systems of work.

Increasingly regulations, legally required Australian Standards, and approved Codes of Practice, mandatory and advisory standards call for specific training of Supervisors/Frontline Managers and other line management personnel.

NSCA philosophy is based on the principle that “supervising for safety” must be integrated with all other management/supervisory imperatives e.g. productivity, quality. This course gives the specific OHS knowledge and skills to allow integration.
