Safety for Supervisors (Domestic Builders/Construction Industry)

Overview

This course is specifically designed for Construction Supervisors. The course equips Supervisors with the essential skills for effectively dealing with occupational health & safety issues in the Domestic Construction Industry. Designed to demonstrate the importance of their roles and responsibilities in ensuring their sites are safe and without risk to health, the course is presented as 1 day per week over a three-week period. 

Who should attend?

Construction Supervisors and Subcontractors. 

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will have knowledge on:

  • OHS legislation, codes/standards and their practical applications

  • Understanding legal and moral implications of OHS compliance

  • Roles and responsibilities of key duty holders

  • Identifying, assessing and controlling the risk/hazards in construction worksites

  • Investigating and reporting injuries, illnesses and incidents

  • Establishing/controlling sites and identify OHS best practice, implementing Council/EPA requirements

  • Understanding and implementing Contractor management, site safety rules, red cards, contractor audits

  • Identify and control typical construction hazards, working at heights, complying with Falls regulations, void protection and handrails

  • Identify components/hazards/controls in relation to scaffolding and conducting scaffold audits. 

Award

No formal assessments will be undertaken for this course. Students attending this course will be given a Statement of Attendance.
