OHS Committee (VIC)

Overview

This course aims to introduce committee members to their legislative requirements, basic safety principles and methods of improving the effectiveness of the safety committee.

Topics covered include:

Legal aspects of OHS, Functions of a Safety Committee, Duties of committee Members, Anatomy of Accidents, Accident Investigations, Risk Assessment Tools, Risk Control, Accident Prevention Programs, Workplace inspections and Effective operations of Committees. 

Who should attend?

Everyone involved in workplace OHS Committees. 

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will have an understanding of:

  • General function of the Safety Committee

  • Development and implementation of policies

  • Development and implementation of measures to protect the health and safety of employees

  • Development and implementation of consultative processes

  • Methods of improving the effectiveness of committees.

Award

No formal assessments will be undertaken for this course. Students attending this course will be given a Statement of Attendance.
