Managing OHS Contractors
Overview
This course provides an understanding of the legal responsibilities of employers towards contractor personnel and of the processes that are necessary to manage OH&S of contractors.
Topics covered include:
Review of current OH&S legislation, costs and benefits of contract management, OH&S programs for contractors, model OH&S policies, responsibilities for a range of employees and contractor personnel, development and implementation of standard work practices, permits-to-work, isolation procedures and elements of a contractor OH&S management system.
Who should attend?
Managers, frontline managers and supervisors responsible for the management of contractors in the workplace.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course participants will be able to:

Outline the legal responsibilities towards contractor personnel

Describe the role of an OH&S program in the operation and development of an OH&S management system for contractors

Recognise the essential features of an effective OH&S policy

Understand the need to assign responsibilities to those people with appropriate authorities to perform the required tasks

Describe OH&S responsibilities for typical organisational and contractor roles

Describe the requirements for standard work practices

Identify the elements of an effective contractor OH&S management system.

No formal assessments will be undertaken for this course. Students attending this course will be given a Statement of Attendance.
