Overview
The purpose of this course is for you to acquire the knowledge and skills to enable you to exercise your powers for the purpose of promoting and ensuring the health and safety at work of members of your designated work group.
Topics covered include:
Legislation; Regulations and Codes of Practice; Powers of a HSR; Workplace Arrangements; OHS Committees; Workplace Inspections and Provisional Improvement Notices; Risk Management; Workers with Special Needs; Conflict Resolution; Negotiation Skills.
Who Should Attend
Elected health and safety representatives from within the Commonwealth jurisdiction.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Understand the structure, purpose and key provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 (the Act)

Understand the role, function and powers of a health and safety representative

Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the role of a health and safety representative within their designated work group

And gain practical skills for implementing the health and safety representative role in the workplace.
