Overview
The course provides the skills and knowledge necessary to operate in the role of Workplace Health and Safety Representative.
Who should attend?
An Employer or Principal Contractor who has Workplace Health and Safety Representatives elected at the workplace; supervisors and managers who have a responsibility for the safety of workers.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course participants will be able:

To inspect the workplace or the part of the workplace within the representative’s area of representation

To review circumstances surrounding workplace incidents
-
To advise the employer or principal contractor of the results of reviews and make recommendations arising out of the review
-
To help in the resolution of workplace health and safety issues within the representative’s area of representation
-
To report to the employer, principal contractor or WHSO any hazard or unsafe or unsatisfactory workplace health and safety practice identified during inspections.
Training methods
This course has both theoretical and practical components, and is conducted in accordance with criteria for adult training principles and the national training framework.
Award
Participants who demonstrate competency by successful completing practical components and theory assessment will receive a Statement of Attainment.
