Overview
This course is specifically designed as a common learning forum for Managers, Supervisors and Health & Safety Representatives covered by Victorian WorkSafe legislation. The course equips you with the essential skills for effectively dealing with occupational health and safety issues in your workplace.
- HSR's/DHSR'S - you will gain knowledge and skills that will enable you to effectively represent the members of a designated work group.
- Managers & Supervisors - you will better understand workplace responsibilities and be able to manage health and safety in the workplace.
Who Should Attend
Health & Safety Representatives, Managers, Supervisors and interested employees. (As per sections 67, 68 & 69 of the OHS Act, a HSR/DHSR has the right to attend an approved course by any approved provider.)
Note: This course is suitable for workplaces covered by the Victorian OHS Act 2004. Commonwealth employees should enrol under an approved Commonwealth course.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have knowledge on:
- OHS Legislative framework and the practical application
- Roles and responsibilities of key duty holders
- Role of the HSR and their legal powers and entitlements
- Role and representative powers of HSR in identifying, assessing and controlling the risk/hazards in the workplaces
- Investigating injuries, illnesses and incidents
- OHS auditing and implementing effective OHS strategies
- Manual handling and plant safety in the workplace
- Communicating effectively on health and safety issues including issue resolution and negotiation.
Award
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
