Risk Management

After a hazard has been identified, it is important to assess the risk associated with the hazard and implement appropriate controls.

Types of risk management that the NSCA can assist with includes:

  • Storage structures – designing storage structures including electrical equipment, chemicals, ventilation and location of storage structures

  • Recommendations on PPE for specific tasks, advice on lifting and ergonomics and vehicle and forklift safety

  • Evacuation and security planning

  • Safety Signs - use and specifications

  • Emergency Planning - developing manifests, fire fighting measures and when to notify the Department of Emergency Services

  • Disposal of containers to reduce environmental risks.
